Build Relationships NOW – Don’t Let Competitors “Steal” Your Clients!
Customers are cautious these days and customer loyalty is being tested. So if you’re smart you’re enhancing your value proposition and going after your competitors’ accounts, right? Your competitors are thinking the same way you are. They want to steal YOUR accounts but don’t let that happen. The key is not to have “accounts” because accounts are easy to steal. Instead, build and fortify “relationships” with existing clients. Become a resource for your clients, find a way to save them time and/or money. Begin the process of positioning your expertise today. You’ll immediately differentiate yourself from your competition and make bigger sales.
The bottom line question every salesperson needs to answer is, “How strong are your relationships with your current customers and prospects?” Are you being perceived as a partner? Or, are your customers forgetting about any loyalty they have to you, and seeking to locate new vendors based solely on price?
• What are you doing to strengthen your current relationships?
• Are you continually adding value and earning the trust and respect that goes along with solid relationships?
• Are you making sure your customers know you are still around and are willing to help? What are you saying to them? What are you doing to keep your name “on the top of their mind?”
• How are you differentiating yourself from the competition?
• Do you know who your biggest competitor is? What can you do better than they do?
Today’s economy is forcing us to do more to maintain our customers and to keep them happy. Don’t fall into the age-old trap of becoming so complacent and sure of your customer’s loyalty that you don’t stay in touch with them. Situations change rapidly and what is here today could very easily be gone tomorrow.
2010 will be here before you know it. Start today and develop your plan for maintaining your customer relationships. Continually “knock their socks off” and make them happy. Do something unexpected and reward them whenever possible. No matter what the circumstances are, never fail to communicate!
