Hi Carol,

Another well thought out post. You are awesome!

When I speak to Real Estate offices, I ask the agents - how many people do you really meet in a week? I find that they think that they are making many more contacts than they really are.

I appreciate meeting people online so much!

Nadine,

A friend of a friend definitely counts! Meeting someone new is just as great as renewing an old acquaintance! You don't have to be handing out a business card to be networking - simply by holding a conversation with someone, finding out what they do and finding ways in which you can help them is networking!

Your "new" friend may not have a need for your services, but did you remind him/her to "pass on your card" to someone who may need the services you offer?

Although I truly believe your should never leave your home or office without business cards, I'm not an advocate of handing out business cards to everyone you speak with, unless of course, they request one. Having said that, when the opportunity presents itself and someone asks for a business card, why not give them two and ask politely if they would mind passing one on to someone who may be in need of your services/products. That's a good networking practice!

Remember . . . Netweaving works!

Carol,

I suppose I did some networking today, I met a friend's friend! It's hard to think about these little encounters as 'networking' but it is in many ways. I ended up giving her my business card, even though that wasn't for business.

Thanks for posting Lisa - social networking/marketing is a brand new arena and one that we'll be talking about a lot on this blog and in the networking Skype room. Please be sure to ask what specific questions you may have and I'll try to get them answered for you!

My best response for you right now is to get involved with FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter - post as much info as you can in your profiles about you and your business and start connecting with others. Ask questions, learn what they do and in turn, they will ask what you do. By asking questions, making connections (which you seem excellent at doing), you will soon find your business bursting at the seams! Let me know what you need help with and when you are set up on all these networks, be sure to connect with me!

Hi Carol,
You know, you're right, I think I have this natural knack for doing these things. I just got the house on the corner sold but introducing a potential buyer, which turned buyer. I'm thinking I need a finder's fee. I'm constantly wanting to know what's happening in my area and have time and time again "hooked" people up.

I'd love to hear how social markets get leads. It's new to me with the all those to choose from!

Hi Carol,

Great blog post! Great plug for the community blog as well! Yesterday, courtesy of Lynn Terry's webinar I continued to network, by showing up and participating in her webinar and by noting some new ways that I could use my Facebook connections. I'm nearly through with the list of items I wrote down yesterday. As for today, I am continuing to post about journaling/blogging in my Skype room. It's always a process...

Take care,

Lael
